Team GB got to experience a monumental amount of success at the U18 Athletics European Championships over the 4 days in Italy's Rieti. British athletes ended up accumulating a staggering 14 total medals, of which 8 were of the golden variety.
The Championships kicked off with a bang for Great Britain, as 3000m runner
Joseph Scanes took the very first gold of the Championships in the 1st day's evening session. The grand finale for Team GB's youngsters was the men's 1500 meters, where
Freddie Rowe and
Alistair Street dominated for a 1-2 finish.
As you could expect, a medal haul so large was enough to clinch victory in the medal table thanks to all those gold medals. Spain did manage one medal more in total, but even in the points table Great Britain's name can be found proudly in 1st place.
