Snooker: Terrific Trump crowned Shanghai Masters champion 2026

The Shanghai Masters of snooker in 2026 has concluded after an all-English final between last year's winner Kyren Wilson and Judd Trump. The duo had sent home heroes Zhao Xintong and Wu Yize packing in the semi-finals, but the Chinese crowd was still out to witness some top quality snooker on Sunday.

The first session of the final in the early UK morning belonged to Trump, as he raced to a 7-3 lead with three consecutive frame victories to end the session. The most tightly contested frame was without a doubt the 6th, where Wilson messed up a frame-winning red while leading 66-0.

Trump saw his chance and took it, clearing the remaining balls with a modern teenager's favourite break size of 67 to secure the frame and a 4-2 lead by just one point. Last year's champion also struck gold here in 2015, but only managed a solitary frame for the remainder of the morning.

"The Warrior" found himself 8-3 down after the first frame of the evening session, but a century in the next settled his nerves a bit, taking the next one as well - 8-5.

The following frame was perhaps the other most crucial one in the match, as Wilson had a great chance to make it 8-6, but ended up snookering himself behind the pink with only the coloured balls from the brown onwards left.

There was a safety battle to be had with Kyren's lead at 20 and 22 points left on the table. In the end Trump prevailed, getting to 9 frames first and a commanding 4-frame lead. The mid-session break will have been a long one for Kettering's finest snooker export.

The following frame brought even more pain for Wilson, as Trump battled back from a 23-64 deficit to put himself just a frame away from victory. The final score ended up being 11-6 for Trump, who took home the trophy and a handsome prize sum of 210 000 pounds.
