Sweden’s top skiers will indeed open their season on 21–23 November in Jällivaara at the Gällivarepremiären event. The forces of nature have kept ski fans in suspense all week, as Jällivaara has been gripped by bitter cold.

However, it has been decided that the competitions will be held despite the harsh temperatures. On the Jällivaara tracks, the temperature has varied between –13 and –20 degrees. The cold-limit for Swedish ski competitions is –17.

The entire Swedish elite has registered for the Jällivaara competitions, led by Frida Karlsson, Ebba Andersson, Jonna Sundling, Maja Dahlqvist, Edvin Anger and William Poromaa. Among Sweden’s sprint stars, Linn Svahn had to withdraw at the last moment due to a cold.

In addition to the hunt for prestige and glory, the Jällivaara competitions offer the final chance to prove oneself ahead of the Ruka World Cup events that start next week.

. Friday’s sprint qualifications start in Jällivaara at 10:40, with the heats beginning at 13:00.
