Best athletes at the U18 European Athletics Championships

It's fitting that this year's U18 European Championships are held in Italy, since most of the best and most interesting athletes in the age group come from the promised land of pasta and pizza.

Most notable among these is of course 16-year old teen sensation Kelly Doualla, who shocked Europe in last year's U20 European Championships in Tampere, taking gold in the 100m at just 15 years of age! Watch the video below to see how the Italian of Cameroonian descent dominated the field to record a time of 11.22, which she already surpassed by 0,01 in Macedonia earlier in the year for a U18 ER.

Alessia Succo is another young Italian making waves in the athletics world, equalling the European U18 best in the 100m hurdles this year. She already took bronze last year at the U20 level, and anything except gold will be a disappointment on home turf.

Great Britain's Divine Iheme will be looking to make his mark in the men's 100 meters after his U18 World's best in the 60m distance indoors. Aged just 16, the devout christian is expected to become Team GB's next big sprinting star.

Athletics U18 European Championships 2026 - Location and Stadium

The Athletics U18 European Championships will take place in the picturesque town of Rieti in Italy. The event itself is hosted by the Guidobaldi Stadium, which sports a capacity of 5,000. The stadium has hosted the annual meeting de Rieti since 1971, which is especially well known for impressive middle distance results each year.

Rieti is located in central Italy on a beautiful hill, with beautiful scenery enveloping it from all sides. In addition to athletics history, Rieti is also filled to the brim with other history, including ruins from the time of the Roman Empire, most notably the famous Rieti Underground.
