Planica in Slovenia is a classic
ski jumping venue and a traditional host in the
FIS Ski Jumping World Cup. The events in Planica are competed in the HS240 ski flying hill.
Planica premiered as a world cup host already in 1980 and has been a consistent host ever since. Planica has also been a host for the FIS Ski Flying World Championships seven times in 1972, 1979, 1994, 2004, 2010 and 2020.
The ski jumping or flying hill in Planica is called
Letalnica bratov Gorišek, in English: Flying hill of Gorišek brothers. The hill size of the great hill of Planica is 240 metres. The hill was built in 1967-1968 and the first competition in the hill was competed in 1969.
The Japanese jumper
Ryoyu Kobayashi has the hill record with 252 metres which he jumped in 2019.
In the season 2023-2024 Planica will host the men's final world cup competition weekend of the season with four days of action between 21st and 24th of March 2024.
Planica Ski Flying World Cup 2024 - Schedule & timetables
The weekend in Planica consists of two individual events and a team competition. The weekend is kicked off with the qualification competition on Thursday. The individual competitions are competed on Friday and Sunday. On Saturday it´s time for the team competition.
