Märta Rosenberg (SWE) won two gold medals in the JWC 2025 in Schilpario, Italy in the U23 category.

Last spring’s World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Norway, turned out to be a financial disaster for the organizers despite large crowds. The aftermath of the fiasco still weighs heavily on the organizing body, since the World Championships hosting agreement also included responsibility for staging the Junior World Ski Championships in March 2026.

The Norwegian Ski Federation (NSF) has nevertheless announced that, due to the heavy losses from the 2025 World Championships, the junior event cannot be held in Trondheim. The options on the table were either to give up the hosting rights entirely or to move the competition to another location.

In cooperation with the International Ski Federation (FIS), the NSF decided to move the Junior World Championships from Trondheim to Lillehammer. The competitions will take place in the 1994 Olympic city from March 3–8, 2026.

At the Junior World Championships, world titles will be contested in the under-20 and under-23 age categories. In the younger age group, medals are awarded in cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, and ski jumping, while the U23 category includes only cross-country skiing.
