Sprinter Marvin Bracy was in the shape of his life in the summer of 2022. The Orlando-born runner celebrated silver in the men’s 100 metres at the Eugene championships, where the United States took a podium sweep led by Fred Kerley and Trayvon Bromell.

Bracy suddenly disappeared from the competition scene in 2023, and clarity about his situation has come only now. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency announced on Monday that Bracy has been handed a 45-month ban for testosterone use and failure to comply with whereabouts rules.

USADA tracked Bracy down based on information from an anonymous whistleblower and tested the sprinter in an out-of-competition test. The World Championship medallist tested positive for testosterone, but agreed to assist authorities in the final stages of the investigation. According to USADA, the agency has also caught other cheaters based on information provided by Bracy.

– This investigation has already produced several significant results that will be announced later. The investigations are still ongoing in connection with this case, USADA CEO Travis Tygart commented.

Bracy’s trophy cabinet also includes two additional medals from indoor World Championships over 60 metres. The American runner, who also played American football in his youth, represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Bracy’s ban ends in 2028, and he will be allowed to keep the silver medal he won in Eugene.
