Noah Lyles ran a new world leading time in the men's 100 meters at the United States Track and Field Championships.
The United States Track and Field Championships saw some real speedsters light the crowd up, as Olympic Champions
Noah Lyles and
Sha'Carri Richardson celebrated 100m titles in New York.
The men's race also saw a new world leading time for the season. Lyles was in a league of his own in the race, stopping the clock at 9,79 in the final. The semi-finals saw the American go even faster at 9,76, but sadly that time was too windy to be accepted as an official result.
Ronnie Baker came in second for the silver with 9,88, beating broze medal winner
Kenny Bednarek in a photo finish after he also clocked a time of 9,88.
The women's 100 meters saw Sha'Carri Richardson repeat her Championship win from last year with a season's best of 10,77. That wasn't quite enough for a world leading time, but it's still second best in the world across the whole season.
Richardson had control of the race for the whole duration of it, staying firmly clear of
Kayla White (10,90) and
Tamari Davis (11,00).
The USA Track and Field Championships continue across the weekend with events such as the men's and women's 400m, 200m, 800m, 5 000m and 400m hurdles.
