Four days of top European U23 Athletics begin in Tallinn on Thursday as the European Athletics U23 Championships gets under way.
European Athletics U23 Championships 2021 are held in Tallinn, Estonia on the 8th-11th of July. The first day of competition kicks off with the morning session at 9:45 local Estonian time (UTC+3). In the evening it's time for two first finals as the medals are decided in men's shot put and 10 000 meters.
Both discus qualifying competitions feature Europe's top names on Thursday. In the women's discus Dutch
Jorinde van Klinken is a clear favourite having thrown over 70 meters this season. In men's discus Slovenia's
Kristjan Ceh has done the same and should win the gold in the men's discus competition.
In men's hammer throw qualification Ukraine's
Mykhaylo Kokhan starts off his Euro campaign. Kokhan is a fresh 80 meters thrower and a very clear favourite to win the gold medal in Tallinn. Fellow Ukrainian
Yaroslava Mahuchikh stars in the women's high jump qualification. With a PB/SB of 206i Mahuchikh should take the gold in Tallinn.
All the mentioned top names are also potential medal candidates in the upcoming
Tokyo 2021 Summer Olympics beginning in late July.
