Olympic Champion Ernesto Canto dies of cancer at 61
The Mexican race walker, olympic champion and world championships gold medalist Ernesto Canto has died of cancer.

The Mexican race walker, olympic champion and world championships gold medalist Ernesto Canto
has died of pancreas and liver cancer on Friday at the age of 61.
Canto won the gold medal in Helsinki in the first Athletics World Championships in 1983 winning the 20 km race. One year later he became an olympic champion winning the gold in Los Angeles in 1984. Canto continued his career until Barcelona olympics 1992.
