Issam Asinga, only 18 years old from the United States, ran 100 metres 9,83 (+2,6) on Sunday in Florida.

The high-schooler beat Noah Lyles, who finished second with a time of 9.92. Kendal Williams placed third in 9.98.

In the preliminaries Asinga ran a time of 9.86, but the tailwind was quite tough +4.1.

Asinga's record in permitted winds is 10.10, which he ran three weeks ago. Considering all the wind conditions, the youngster's best result before Sunday was 10.06.

Letsile Tebogo holds the U20 World Record 9.91 (2022).

Issam´s father Tommy Asinga represented Suriname at 800 meters in three Olympics and Issam's mother Ngozi Mwanamwambwa Asinga represented Zambia at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic sprints.
