Luca Brecel and Jack Lisowski OUT of the World Championship
Luca Brecel and Jack Lisowski were eliminated on the final day of qualifiers for the World Snooker Championship.

The Snooker World Championship qualifiers came to an end yesterday on Wednesday. The most anticipated match of Judgement Day was the clash between 2023 World Champion Luca Brecel and the 2024 finalist Jak Jones.

However, this heavyweight bout didn't quite live up to expectations, as Jones ran out a convincing 10-5 winner. The Belgian Brecel hasn't really found that sam edge since winning his title, and has fallen down to #46 in the world rankings.

Welshman Jones on the other hand put up a vintage performance, making an impressive five breaks that broke over the centrury mark.

- I played well and already felt good in the morning.

- I like this format, as there's plenty of time to get into your game properly. Today I played my best snooker all season. I enjoy playing at the Crucible - you can fall apart there, but I love the atmosphere. It's an unbelievable arena, and it never fails to light up something special in me, Jones commented on the WST broadcast following the match.

Jack Lisowski's season is another that ends in disappointment. The Englishman who took his first ranking victory this season fell 10-5 to He Guoqiang of China, who in turn gets to make his first trip to the World Championship proper.

The experienced Ali Carter secured his 22nd visit to the Crucible by coming from 5-7 down to defeat Anthony McGill with a scoreline of 10-7. Carter took the final 5 frames of the match.

- I'm extremely pleased. It's fantastic to still be able to battle it out at the top of our game at my age, the 46-year old commented.

Other winners on Wednesday included China's Zhang Anda and Englishmen Liam Highfield and Gary Wilson. Wilson took victory in dramatic fashion over Xu Si, as the match went all the way to a 10-9 decider.

The World Snooker Championship 2026 starts properly at 10am British time on Saturday the 18th of April. Below are all the results from the final round of qualifiers and all the players who made the World Championship via the qualifiers.
