Snooker Shanghai Masters: Chinese super-final dream shattered in 1st semi-final

Englishman Judd Trump put any dreams of a Chinese super-final to bed at the Shanghai Masters, as he defeated Wu Yize in the first semi-final 10-6.

The home crowd was surely hoping for a titanic tussle between their two world champions Wu and Zhao Xintong in Sunday's final, but the more recent champ is now out. Zhao faces reigning Shanghai Masters champion Kyren Wilson in the second semi-final on Saturday.

"The Ace in the pack" was in particularly devastating form in the evening session, where he dominated Wu 5-2 after taking a slender 5-4 advantage in the early hours of the UK morning.

The world ranking number 1 continued strongly from his 6-0 quarter-final victory over John Higgins, potting two century breaks against Wu. However, more impressively there were 9 breaks that broke the 50 point mark for the Englishman, who was in cruise control throughout.
