Snooker: Final of Shanghai Masters set after epic Wilson v Zhao semi-final

Reigning Shanghai Masters snooker champion Kyren Wilson and 2025 world snooker champion Zhao Xintong played out a marathon second semi-final in China. The scores remained almost deadlocked throughout the match, but finally after 18 frames of gruelling action, Judd Trump had his opponent.

Tomorrow's final is hopefully just as exciting as today's bout, with neither player able to gain an advantage of more than two frames throughout the match. The lead changed hands a total of 5 times along the way, but finally it was Wilson who managed to hold on to one and take the match 10-8.

Zhao had a spot to join Trump tomorrow firmly in his hands with a 8-6 lead, but Wilson rallied. The late comeback started with a century to cut the lead in half, then a tight frame, then another quality break of 129 and suddenly the Englishman was just a frame away from victory.

The Chinese crowd was nervous but firmly behind Zhao, groaning in disappointment as their country's first ever world champion overcut a red in the 18th frame with a chance to force a decider.

Wilson knows how to win in Shanghai, and he looked under little pressure as he potted the remaining balls to secure his final spot against fellow Englishman Trump. No Chinese winner for the home crowd this time out, but they're surely content with having the last two world champions hailing from their homeland.

"The Ace in the pack" is a fearsome opponent at this tournament, as he's reached the final five times here, winning two titles in the process. Defeating John Higgins 6-0 and reigning world champion Wu Yize 10-6 are no mean feats, so tomorrow's final is looking to be a cracker!

The action in the best of 21 final on Sunday begins at 07:00 UK time with the morning session, while the champion of the Shanghai Masters 2026 will finally be decided in the 2nd session beginning at 12:30 UK time.
