The Norwegian biathletes astounded with their dominance in the men's pursuit race on Epiphany in Oberhof.
In the
Biathlon World Cup event in Oberhof,
Endre Strømsheim claimed victory,
Sturla Holm Lægreid finished second,
Johannes Dale third, while the
Bø brothers,
Tarjei and
Johannes Thingnes, took the fourth and fifth positions.
In the
Cross-Country Skiing World Cup, Norway has seen occasional seen top 5 places this millennium, but occupying the top five positions in biathlon has been rarer.
The last time a single country secured the top five spots in a men's biathlon World Cup event was the Soviet Union in Minsk on January 10, 1985.
The 20-kilometer race, held in nearly minus 20 degrees Celsius, was won by
Andrei Zenkov ahead of
Yuri Kaskarov and
Piotr Miloradov.
Sergei Idinov finished fourth, and
Dimitri Vasiljev took fifth place.
