Two-time Olympic champion in the long jump, Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece continued his awe-inspiring season by equalling the Greek record in his home nation's national championships in Volos. Tentoglou was in cruise control all the way, with four of his leaps going over 8,5 meters: 866, 866, 864 and 852.

The winning result of 866 is enough to equal Louis Tsatoumas' Greek record from 2007, and it's also the world leading results of this season.

In the long jump rankings of the season, newly crowned Swiss record holder Simon Ehammer is second with 851, while Bozhidar Saraboyukov who also broke his national record (Bulgaria) with 849 is third.

Tentoglou set the tone right from his first jump, which reached a distance of 8,52 meters. This was already enough to beat his own meeting record, while his second jump of 8,66 (the first time he jumped it) was not eligible to be a record due to the wind conditions.

Greece's new national record holder went 8,64 meters in the final round to round out a beautiful day of athletics.

This kind of form spells trouble for competitors in a couple of weeks, when the European Championships of Athletics begin in Birmingham on the 10th of August.
