Finland's biathlon season opening competitions will be held on 15th and 16th of November 2025 in Kontiolahti in the form of the Kontiolahti Grand Prix. All of Finland’s top names will kick off their season in Kontiolahti.
The two-day Kontiolahti GP will, as usual, open Finland’s biathlon season in mid-November. During the 2025/26 season, the opening competitions will take place in Kontiolahti on 15–16 November 2025.
The races begin on Saturday with sprint competitions, and on Sunday another set of sprints are scheduled. In addition to the senior categories, the Kontiolahti Grand Prix also features competitions for youth and adult athletes.
Practically all of Finland’s top male biathletes have registered for the competitions in Kontiolahti. The participant list includes
Tero Seppälä,
Otto Invenius,
Olli Hiidensalo,
Tuomas Harjula,
Jaakko Ranta,
Arttu Heikkinen,
Jimi Klemettinen,
Jonni Mukkala and
Joni Pykäläinen. Seppälä will compete only on Sunday, while the rest of the top athletes will already take part in Saturday’s sprint.
In the women’s competitions in Kontiolahti, we will also see Finland’s strongest biathletes:
Suvi Minkkinen,
Sonja Leinamo and
Venla Lehtonen. Challenging them are, among others,
Erika Jänkä,
Inka Hämäläinen and
Noora Kaisa Keränen.
