Snooker: Trump gives Zhao a spanking in British Open quarter-finals

England's Judd Trump and China's Zhao Xintong were expected to be the hot ticket for some epic snooker action on Friday night, since it was China's first world champion who had just ousted Trump from his spot as world number one.

However, the British Open quarter-final duel between the duo was an one-sided affair, where the Englishman had dulled his opponents blades completely. "The Ace in the Pack" was in dominant form, taking the victory and a spot in the semi-finals with a 5-1 scoreline.

Zhao did manage a century break in the third frame, but that was a small consolation. In the other frames of the match China's pride only managed to rack up a total of 55 points, while Trump crafted breaks of 101, 57, 51 and 72.

Trump's British Open adventure continues in the semi-finals, where he'll face Welshman Jak Jones or Ireland's Aaron Hill depending on the outcome of their ongoing match.

In the earlier quarter-final session of the day there were only Englishmen in sight, as Mark Selby routed Jack Lisowski 5-0, while his semi-final opponent Liam Highfield beat 19-year old Stan Moody 5-2.

The semi-finals of the British Open will be on Saturday in Cheltenham.
