Finland’s team for the Tour de Ski taking place around the turn of the year has been announced.
The Finnish Ski Association has selected its team for the Tour de Ski starting after Christmas. The squad includes a number of Finland’s top names, but early-season World Cup standout
Arsi Ruuskanen will not compete in the Tour de Ski.
Kerttu Niskanen, who has been searching for top form throughout the early season, will however take part in the Tour de Ski. The same applies to her brother
Iivo Niskanen, who missed the most recent World Cup races in Davos due to illness.
In total, Finland’s Tour de Ski team consists of 16 skiers: 9 men and 7 women.
The Tour de Ski is an important opportunity for several Finnish skiers with a view to Olympic selections. For example,
Perttu Hyvärinen,
Niko Anttola,
Niilo Moilanen,
Ristomatti Hakola,
Petteri Koivisto and
Emil Liekari are in a tight battle for places at the
Milano–Cortina Olympic Games.
So far, an Olympic ticket has been secured by the Niskanens,
Lauri Vuorinen,
Krista Pärmäkoski,
Jasmi Joensuu,
Johanna Matintalo and
Arsi Ruuskaselta.
