Norway sends 52 skiers to Trondheim – See the selections for the weekend’s World Cup

The cross-country skiing World Cup continues from Friday to Sunday in Trondheim, Norway. Just like Finland in Ruka, Norway was allowed to name a larger-than-usual team for its home World Cup events in Trondheim.

There is no shortage of star power on the lists. All the athletes who shone in Ruka are included, along with several other top skiers from the fjord nation. What makes the Trondheim competitions particularly interesting is that all races this weekend are Olympic distances, making them an important part of Norway’s internal Olympic selection. The program in Trondheim features classic sprint on Friday, skiathlon on Saturday, and 10 km (F) interval start on Sunday.

Under the new Olympic rules, team sizes have been significantly restricted, and for example Norway may name only eight male cross-country skiers for the Milano–Cortina Olympics. As a result of the reform, several Norwegian medal contenders will end up watching the Olympic Games from home.
