A total of 28 Norwegian skiers will compete in the World Cup season opener in Ruka.
Norway will be chasing success in the upcoming weekend’s
XC skiing World Cup with a broad lineup. In
Ruka, no fewer than 28 Norwegian skiers will put on a bib.
Among the men, familiar top names include
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo,
Erik Valnes,
Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget,
Harald Østberg Amundsen and
Simen Hegstad Krüger. The most interesting new name is the multi-discipline super talent
Einar Hedegart, who humbled Norway’s experienced squad last weekend in Beitostølen.
Among the Norwegian women in Ruka are, among others, sprint star
Kristine Stavås Skistad, distance powerhouses
Astrid Øyre Slind and
Heidi Weng, and the returning former World Cup winner
Tiril Udnes Weng .
The 26-year-old
Julie Bjervig Drivenes, who surprisingly won the 10 km freestyle at
Beitosprinten, is an interesting Norwegian addition for the distance events.
