The China Open makes a much-anticipated return to the
World Snooker Tour (WST) calendar for the first time since 2019. The tournament is held between the 8th and 16th of August a week after the
Shanghai Masters and a week before the
Wuhan Open, and it's located in Taiyuan, which is the capital of the Shanx province in northern China.
The total prize money pool for the tournament is a whopping 1 205 000 pounds, which lifts it up amongst the highest paid ranking tournaments of the year. The winner will pocket a tidy 250 000 pounds.

The China Open 2026 takes place during 9 days from the 8th to the 16th of August. There are 32 players who have made the cut for the tournament. The qualifiers for the event took place in Leicester from the 10th to the 14th of June.

All of the matches until the semi-finals will be played in a best of 11 format. The final will be a best of 19 affair over two sessions.

China Open - History
The China Open is one of the most prestigious overseas ranking events in the calendar.
The first edition of the tournament took place in 1999, when living legend Ronnie O'Sullivan was crowned the winner of the inaugural event.
In 2005 the tournament moved to Beijing, where to the home crowd's delight Ding Junhui took the title. The then 18-year old toppled the legendary Stephen Hendry in the final, turning Ding into a national hero overnight in one of the greatest nights in Chinese snooker history.
Mark Selby and Mark Williams are the most successful players at the China Open, with both collecting an impressive 3 titles here across their careers.
