The Shanghai Masters 2026 snooker tournament takes place between the 27th of July and the 2nd of August. The tournament in China is a
World Snooker Tour invitational, where 24 players are invited to participate each year.
The Chinese crowds will get to witness the 16 best players in the world ranking, 4 of the highest ranked Chinese players and 4 wild card entries.
The first Shanghai Masters took place in 2007, and it's become one of the highlights of the year due to snooker's ever-rising popularity in China. The location of Shanghai brings prestige as well, and it will be the first big tournament of the snooker season 2026-2027.
The tournament enjoyed status as a ranking tournament between 2007-2017, while since 2018 it's been an invitational. This of course means that the prize money of the Shanghai Masters isn't counted towards the rankings points on the professional tour.
